We have been Scouting in Glen Iris since 1916 and are still going strong today. The Group is one of the largest in the Boroondara District.
Scouting is the world’s largest youth organisation with over 50 million members. The aim of Scouts Victoria is:
“to encourage the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual development of young people so they may play a constructive role in society as responsible citizens and as members of their local and international communities.”
This aim is achieved through a strong and active program that inspires young people to do their best and to always be prepared. We also aim to provide a safe and supportive environment where both youth and adult members can have fun and enjoy many rewarding experiences. Scouting provides people (both youth and adults) with opportunities to do things they may not be able to do elsewhere or may not have even considered doing.
Scouts is open to both boys and girls and is separated into age-based sections with each section taking more responsibility for their own activities as they progress. All sections share a sense of self-respect, confidence, leadership, teamwork, creativity, environmental awareness and community involvement. There are plenty of events and activities in which the whole family can get involved together.
